Ana was not as weak as the critics describe and Christian was not as abusive to Ana as the Critics say.
Christian is a sweet guy that's damaged. Ana was his ray of hope in his dark world. I wish the writers allow her to help him heal and draw a map to the readers how this can happen. It could possibly help heal a lot of people. I couldn't have agreed with you more. To me also it is a beautiful love story and it has true romance. I believe Ana is my favorite character from the books, She is a very strong woman. I love her.
I hope my comment made sense to you. Fragile Narcissists. Counter dependent and codependent varieties.

I believe Christian Grey is a quiet borderline and not a narcissist. Ana was the one who was always in control of their relationship nor was she interested in his money or fame.
I have a problem when feminist pretend every movie is some how how a women's issue. You present the opinion ana was weak yet she had the most dominant personality in the film. There is no way you watched the film. One of my favorite movie Fifty Shades of Grey.

Fifty Shades of Grey | Psychology Today
So far, we have seen the undeniable sadistic and narcissistic personality disorder characteristics of Christian. Now that we have seen the idealization stage of Anna, I hope the sequel will depict the inevitable devaluation stage where Anna will be consumed with self-doubt while trying to help Christian become a person with empathy and eventually where all her efforts and suffering will become futile to the point of being driven to the edge of sanity.
If a sequel succeeds in illustrating a realistic scenario of getting entangled with a narcissit, the movie will play an important role to alarm the public about the emotionally immaturity, coupled with the machevallian nature of the narcissit, particularly when there is a lack of education amongst us about these people who are a disservice to society as a whole. I'm currently working on my thesis about Fifty shades.
I've noticed that your a Clinical Psychologist, I just want to ask about the Psychological constructs that you noticed in Christian Grey. It will be a big help since you're a professional and also in the field of Psychology. Thank you!
